Earlier, Kaitlyn and I were trying to figure out how to use the washing machine and had to ask for the help of one of our roommates, Lilly, and her friend, Marco. After we figured out the dishwasher, we were walking back to the room and they asked us if we had plans for the evening. We said no and they graciously invited us over to Marco’s to eat dinner with some of the roommates. We said that would be lovely but we were very apprehensive because we don’t know the roommates that well.
Let me just say that I am glad that we did it because the food was absolutely delicious and the company was wonderful. For appetizers, we ate bread with chopped tomatos on top of them (in fact, us and some of the other italian girls started eating this before everyone arrived and we then proceeded to wipe the crumbs off our plates under the table to hide the evidence). Once everyone was there, we dug into the delicious pasta, cheese and zucchini that Lilly, Marco and Cristiano prepared for us. Cristiano made a point of saying that nobody was allowed to leave until the pasta was finished. It got finished alright, and it was wonderful. After we finished eating, we started to play games. We played the good, old, fan favorite game “thumper” which always provides laughs. Then, 21, which is a whole lot harder when you are speaking different languages and rules become things like, separating numbers so “diez” becomes “uno y cero”. Muy dificil. At around 1am, we decided that it was time to head back, though we didn’t really want to. Unfortunately we have to wake up early tomorrow because we are going on a little day trip.
It was a great way to hang out with the roommates and get to know them a little bit more. We got to meet LOADS of Italians and one Spanish girl, drink tons of wine and Sangria and have lots of laughs. All-and-all, it was a good night.
